שוין אין דעם מיטל אלטער איז געווען א יידישע געמיינדע אין לאנדאן. איינער פון די בעלי תוספות איז געווען רבנו אליהו לאנדאנער,‏ וואס זיין גאנצער נאמען איז געווען רבנו אליהו מנחם בן משה פון לאנדאן, א ברודער פון רבנו ברכיה פון לינקאלן.‏ רבנו אליהו'ס פאטער איז געווען רבנו משה בן יום טוב פון לאנדאן.‏ פאר אים איז געווען אין לאנדאן ר' יעקב ב"ר יהודה חזן מלונדריש. זיינע ברידער אין לאנדאן זענען געווען דוילקריס, וואס זיין זון חיים איז געווען דער לעצטע הויפט רב אין ענגלאנד (1281-1290) פאר דער דעפארטאציע פון די יידן פון ענגלאנד. רבנו אליהו מנחם האט געוואוינט אין לאנדאן פון 1253 ביז 1284. ער איז געווען נאנט צו ריטשארד פון קארנוואל.

ביי דער מלחמה פון דער באראנען אין 1263 האט מען צוויי מאל בארויבט די לאנדאנער יידן.

אין 1282 האט רבנו אליהו געקויפט א שטח לאנד ארויס פון די טויערן פון לאנדאן פאר א בית עולם,‏ און אין 1280 האט ער געקויפט א שטח פאר א שול.
