This text is in English because hopefully we can get some help also from Wikipedians not able to read / write with Hebrew letters or in transcription.
font settings for Yiddish projects[רעדאַקטירן קוואַלטעקסט]
- Dear friends! MediaWiki:Monobook.css T allows every project to define a lot of issues regarding the representation of the wiki pages.
- Between others one can define font family and font size of all MediaWiki topics (for each header level, for the tabs and navigation etc.)
- Since more then one year I liked to know how to change the font at "vikipedye" to have the traditional Hebrew letters at the Yiddish projects. I hope we finaly can start these experiments.
- If MediaWiki:Monobook.css does not contain any settings as in the default installation you need to know about skins-1.5/monobook/main.css. There I found:

- At the testwiki in Yiddish Monobook.css T I used:

- Monobook.css from the testwiki in Yiddish needs refinament. Every contributor is invited to log in and receive "sysop" rights and test. We should be able to solve this together.

- If somebody has knowledge about CSS styles or time to experiment then he / she should find the proper style (font and size) for all available items: navigation tabs, user tool's / navigation, headers, comments at the top of special pages etc. I assume that all "classes" can be found at skins-1.5/monobook/main.css. A list should be somewhere arround at meta:; if not we need to make one our self.
- You may contact also the coluegues from Wikipedia in Hebrew. They started a while ago and have experimented as well. Finaly you can find help at the IRC-channel #mediawiki, by searching the various mailing lists from mail.wikipedia.org or looking around at other projects / languages. Good luck!

Remove the icon setting[רעדאַקטירן קוואַלטעקסט]
Lately, the setting in rtl.css which removes the logo was canceled, so we don't need the setting here anymore. I've removed it in Hebrew Wikipedia, Wikiquote and Wikisource. - Rotemliss (Talk | sysop in Hebrew Wikipedia, Wikiquote and Wikisource) 16:01, 27 מאַרץ 2006 (UTC)
You may consider my own selection of fonts in my Monobook.css on French Wikipedia, which supports lots of scripts using various fonts, patiently ordered so that it will work reliably. I do have all those fonts on my systems, but the CSS selection is large enough that you will probably find those fonts easily. Note that some of the fonts are protected (for example Arial Unicode MS is available only with MS Office if it is installed, on Windows or MacOSX. But there are many other alternatives. Most of these fonts are freely available on the net. You may just google on their name to find how to load and install them. I built this set first in order to display IPA correctly, but then I have extended it to support almost all semitic scripts, and complex Indian scripts, as well as large East Asian scripts. See fr:Utilisateur:verdy_p/monobook.css for an example of font selection in serif and sans-serif styles, as needed for Mediawiki projects.
